Kona Overload Update

Thank you, everyone, for all of the great input earlier today on my colour dilemma {and yes, I will spell colour with a "u" no matter how many times blogger tells me it's misspelled!}.  I spent some time this afternoon making a few mock-ups of my favourites, and I think this one is the front runner:

Kona Pacific borders, Kona Chartreuse binding

I'm not totally decided yet, so here are the others that I have narrowed it down to. Thoughts?

Clockwise: Kona Chartreuse, Kona Daffodil, Kona Wine, Kona Lagoon

And an unrelated question: do bias edges not fray?? I've been working on a strip tube quilt this week and realized once the blocks started coming together that I'm now working with 100% bias edges (a first for me...eek...actually, so far so good) and they are not fraying! I'm enjoying this. :)

Bias edges don't fray like straight cut edges in my experience.

I love your frontrunner option and it's not just because of the chartreuse binding, I swear. :)

Well, that's a loaded question - it depends what it's for and where it's going!! But I also really like the chartreuse as a backing. Either way, that should be in there! So that means your first choice is great, too.

My personal preference is the Kona Wine! I like the balance you get! But we all see things a little differently and the blue is good too!

I like them all but it really pops off of that Kona Pacific. I had to go to my color card as my monitor is showing that as a dark navy blue, I like the Pacific.

I really like your mock up, though in this post I like the wine too. I really like the chartreuse binding with the Pacific too.....all fun options!

Good for you for not bending to Blogger's spelling whims. I think you've hit on a great option with the Pacific with Chartreuse binding! I think the dark blue colour really grounds the scrappy section and it works well together.

I'm with Susan, I love the wine! The pacific looks good too and chartreuse for the binding is brilliant (also think it would be a nice binding with the wine!!) x

The pacific/chartreuse combo looks great, Heather! The wine borders also look pretty cool in your mock-up if you decide to go that way.

The Pacific/Chartreuse is perfect, IMO! Looking at the other mock ups, I'm surprised to say that Wine would be my second choice.

I'm partial to the chartreuse and the lagoon.
Nope, bias edges don't fray! If you look at the fibers, there is no where for the fray to go, bc the fibers are on the diagonal!

I like your pick!

I had to laugh at your comment about your spelling of colour.

And then when you type favourite colour it looks really odd to non-Canadians!

Oh, pacific/chartreuse for sure!!!

Have to go with the pacific, it makes the other colors just pop!

Great choice, Heather! I also have some Kona Pacific and it is a fantastic colour! I also really like the off centre layout! Is that intentional? It looks great!

of course colour has a u in it - silly spell check! Yup, your front runner's my fave, too.

Go with your gut - I love it and it looks like everyone else does, too! I try to always bind with bias b/c it's longer lasting on the folded edge and it doesn't fray as much when you're attaching it to the quilt!
